Chair-Elect Nominations

The Mississippi Local Section is now encouraging members to nominate another member or self-nominate to serve with the other Executive Officers as Chair-Elect.

Serving as Chair-Elect and Immediate Past Chair is a three-year commitment. We highly encourage nominations from industry or education institutions without current representation. Nominations are due December 17th!

Annual Awards Ceremony

In the past, the MSLS Annual Awards Ceremony was held each fall and often at a location associated with the previous year’s Chemist of the Year recipient. In 2019, we celebrated at the Ag & Forestry Museum. In 2020, we celebrated virtually due to the pandemic and congratulated Todd Mlsna at MSU for receiving the 2020 Chemist of the Year Award. When it was time to plan the 2021 ceremony in August/September of this year, Mississippi was in the midst of the surge due to the Delta variant, so we decided to postpone the ceremony until cases subsided.

Currently, we are planning to hold the 2021 Awards Ceremony in February in person. The location is not yet confirmed.
