The Mississippi Chapter of the American Chemical Society is proud to introduce Dr. Travis Thornell as 2022 Chair-Elect.
Dr. Thornell is a research physical scientist at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) and has been a member of ACS for 10 years. He has membership in the Polymer Chemistry (POLY) and Polymer Materials Science and Engineering (PMSE) technical divisions.
A Mississippi native, Dr. Thornell received his undergraduate degree in Polymer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) in 2013 and was granted a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering by Purdue University in 2018.
At SERMACS 2021 in Birmingham, Dr. Thornell was awarded the Partners for Prosperity (P3) Award for his involvement in collaborating with USM on various research and academic efforts which have produced internships and employment opportunities for students.
